Empire Dance Championship 2017

Congratulations, NY Empire Dance Championship Competitors!

Months of hard work and preparation culminated this past weekend for our amazing students.
We are so proud of our Dancers! They rocked the Empire Dance Championship.

Big Thank You to all families & friends who came out to support!
It meant a lot to the Dancers to see your smiling faces cheering them on!!!

We are so proud of the accomplishments of our student Alana Karasik. It’s only her first year of dancing and she has already proved that perseverance and consistency lead to #1.

It was an exciting day of dancing for our student Jennifer Tanskiy. This is her first Dance Competition.
Jennifer smiled & gracefully danced through all the routines of International Latin Dances such as Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive.

To become a better dancer, one of the best way is to start training for the Dance Competition. When you have a concrete goal with a date you can become more focused on achieving that goal. And, one you are totally committed, you will be amazed at how quickly your dancing improves.

We look forward to seeing you all back on the dance floor again very soon!

Improving Posture Will Improve Your Life

Having good posture is important. Not only it can help you look better, but may also help you feel better.

The next time you are feeling sad and depressed, pay close attention to your posture.

While it’s true that you are sitting this way because you are sad, it’s also true that you are sad because you are sitting this way.

The idea is that relationship between our mind and body runs both ways, meaning our mind influences the way body reacts, but the form of our body also impulse our mind.

The increase of sitting and walking – from sitting in front of our computers looking down at our smartphones – have an effect on the rise of depression in recent years.

A person who slumped over with your neck and shoulders curved forward and head looking down may find that the habit affects their ability to digest food. They may also have difficulty breathing and experience various aches and pains.

These poor habits create greater physical problems as the body ages.

It’s important to learn how to have better posture at an early stage.

The function of your body posture tells your brain that you are powerful, which, in turns, affects your attitude.

Right body postures change brain and body chemistry. When people sit or stand with their bodies taking up space, arms expanded, legs open, they produce more testosterone and less stress hormones.

Whether you are standing, sitting or lying down, it’s important to maintain a proper posture.

Teach your body to improve your posture.

Standing Wall. Stand with your back against a door or wall, with the back of your head, shoulders, and spine just touching it at the same time. If it feels awkward and uncomfortable, don’t worry – as you develop good posture habits and train your body, it will uncomfortable to not stand this way. Hold for 30 seconds and then walk away from the wall as you maintain your position.

Plank Pose. This simple but effective exercise strengthens your back and abdominal core as well as your shoulder and back muscles.

Stretch and Roll. From the plank position, lower your legs and straighten your arms. Extend your head and spine. Lift your chest off the floor and move into cobra pose. Hold for a few seconds then change position. Move onto your hands and knees, gently round your back and arch up into a cat stretch. Lower and repeat.

Do stretches. This can greatly help if you find that you have a sore back or neck. It’s also good to do during the day if your job required you to sit for long periods.

What to expect on the first day – from one parent to another!

We are very excited to WELCOME young dancers to our ‘Little Stars’ program.
They come into the class very slowly, but make most measurable progress by the end of the year!
We look forward to seeing all of the beautiful little princess all dressed in pink and little gentleman in black.
We know that as a parent you have a vision for how you think the first day will go. All children are different and react differently in situations.

Everything to them is new.
Please arrive early on the first day in order to get them acclimated to their new teacher and environment.
Our Little Stars program is designed as a teacher/child class.
Our policy is allowed the parent to stay in the studio and observed the class.
Most of the time our little dancers come into the class right away and never look back. Sometimes our little dancers aren’t ready for teacher/child class.
As parents, we won’t know until we try!
Please remember that it sometimes takes a few weeks in order for the child to warm up to the idea, even if they LOVE to dance.
Lastly, our goal on the First day is to get every child into the class without mom and without crying.
If we have done that we have succeeded.

We hope all have a positive experience at our studio.

Starting on August 1st Students will learn the art of controlled movements that will improve flexibility, builds strength and develops control in the body.
Whatever your age or physical structure, our modern lifestyle of sitting in cars, behind desks, and on sofas, takes its toll on our backs, shoulders, and legs. Our muscles adapt to the laziest way to hold our bodies over time, and without proper exercise, causes us to look tired, out of condition, and certainly not at our best.
BodyBallet class will train your body to become fit and healthy, as well as adapt a youthful elegance and lock the muscle memory.
No previous experience in ballet is necessary to join our class and start creating your dream body lines, elegance, and posture.
